Cynthia "Cindy" Killian

Cynthia “Cindy” Killian, of Hot Springs Village, lost her battle with cancer on June 17, 2020, at the age of 63, peacefully in her home with her husband by her side.

Cindy was born on June 7, 1957, to Laura Jean Burrough and Robert Burrough and was the youngest of seven siblings.

When Cindy was young, she earned her pilot’s license and performed aerobatic maneuvers in Cessna airplanes. She held various jobs, but earning her nursing license in 2005, was her proudest achievement and a turning point in her life. She moved to Arkansas and met the love of her life, Gary Killian, who she married in 2007. As a nurse, she touched many lives. Her colleagues remember her always teaching and wanting to educate others as much as she could. Even as a patient herself, she would give pointers to other nurses, and always reminded them to “save their backs.”

Cindy was known for her quirky sense of style, creative flair and her famous catch phrase, “I got it at an estate sale!” She collected unusual antiques and loved to refinish furniture in her own unique way. Her turtle statues that she covered in mosaic glass (she jokingly called “bedazzled”) embody her eccentric spirit. When she wasn’t working, she was sure to wear stylish outfits and unique jewelry. Her love for shopping was no secret, and she had a dedicated room filled with her extensive shoe collection, nail polish that could supply a salon, jewelry and quilting supplies.

Cindy never missed an opportunity to call attention to a dirty double-entendre and was always up for a good time with friends and family. She was very spiritual and an avid believer in karma, spending hours philosophizing the meaning of life and the mysteries of the universe, including the existence of Bigfoot.

Cindy is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Frank Lewis; and her many dogs she adored throughout her life. She is survived by her husband, Gary Killian; daughters, Heidi Deal and Krista Suletic; son, Braden Killian; and grandson Cash Deal.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer Research Institute in Cindy’s name are greatly appreciated.
