Dale "Flukie" Franklin McKenzie

Dale “Flukie” Franklin McKenzie, age 83, of Norman, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021.

He was born on January 13, 1938, in Coahoma, Mississippi, the son of Willard Doyle McKenzie and Coy Mae Sells McKenzie. On November 22, 1958, he married the true love of his live, Gloria Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Sonny McKenzie and Richard “Tuffy” McKenzie; and two sisters, Julie McKenzie and Norma Jean Dodd.

He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, was employed as a truck driver for Certainteed until he retired in 2002, and even after he retired he continued to work various jobs up until about four years ago. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. He was the most amazing and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, who loved his family with all his heart. Flukie will truly be missed by all who had the joy of knowing and loving him and has left a legacy of memories for each to cherish forever.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria “Dodie” McKenzie of Norman; one son, Willard McKenzie of Hot Springs; three daughters and sons-in-law, Melinda and Buster Morris of Black Springs, Brenda Swindle and the late Tom Swindle of Black Springs and Kela and David Davis of Athens; six grandchildren and their spouses, Brandon and Carla Morris, Jason and Nita Morris, Justin McKenzie, Elizabeth and Jeff Williams, Kaley and Ben Cogburn and Shayla and Devin Jester; ten grandchildren, Loren Pierce and her husband, David, Dillon, Lacey, Alexis, Makayla, Hadley, Kemper, Holden, Jayde, Karsyn and one on the way; one great-great-granddaughter, Josie; his special buddy, his dog, Molly; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

It was Flukie’s wishes for there to be no formal services held.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home and Crematory, Glenwood.
