Danny L. Smith

Danny L. Smith, age 78, of Bryant, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021.

He was born on April 3, 1943, in Hot Springs, the son of Barney Everett Smith and Adell Euwintha Small Smith. On November 19, 1965, in Kirby, Arkansas, he was married to the love of his life, Peggy Jean O’Neal Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Glenwood. For over forty years he was employed with the United States Army Corp of Engineers as a lock master, until his retirement. He was an avid Razorback fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Danny was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, whose greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially attending his grandchildren’s various sports activities. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Jean Smith of Bryant; his three children and their spouses, Daniel Scott and Mary Smith of Benton, Gina Lynn and Chris Simpson of Conway and Dean Allen and Julia Smith of Matthews, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Madison Nicole Simpson, Cameron Allen Simpson, Isabella Marie Smith, James Ezra Smith, Daniel Elisha “Eli” Smith, Nathaniel “Nathan” Scott Smith and Lucas Graham Smith; his brother and sister-in-law, Whitt Keith and Evelyn Smith of Glenwood; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, April 19, 2021, in the Grace Baptist Church in Glenwood with Bro. James Owens officiating.

Visitation will be held Sunday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood.

Interment will be in the Mount Tabor Cemetery in Glenwood.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Danny to Grace Baptist Church, PO Box 1160, Glenwood, Arkansas 71943.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Turner, Mark Small, Randall Smith, Mike Seals, Jeff Small, Joe Ray Short and Bobby Grant.
