Dennis Cook

Dennis Cook, age 83, of Kirby, passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021.

He was born on March 9, 1938, in Kirby, the son of Richard Carroll Cook and Jessie Mae Ray Cook. On August 20, 1986, he married Mary Louise Hampton Cook who preceded him in death on November 1, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his son, Brian Scott Cook; his parents; his brother, Bobby Cook; and his granddaughter, Brittiny Simpson.

Dennis was a carpenter by trade. He was a member and deacon of Midway Full Gospel Church. He enjoyed growing a garden, fishing, deer hunting, piddling in his wood shop, drinking coffee and eating hamburgers while visiting at the Kirby Kwik Stop. He loved his family, his church family and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Cindy Cook of Kirby; four daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Johnny Gibson and Pam and Dwayne Newport, all of Sunbright, Tennessee, Dee and Greg Williams of Glenwood and Paulette and Bruce Stewart of Kirby; fifteen grandchildren, Mike (Cindy) Cook, Pete (Tina) Cook, Heath (Maddi) Cook, Melynda (Billy) Bryant, Salina Cook, Daron (Amy) Gibson, Amanda (Robert) Freels, Tiffiny Hunter, Dustin (Kristie) Beshears, Russell Simpson, Braydon Newport, Kristina Williams-Scott, Eden (Hunter) Rhodes, Kobie Stewart and Wade (Staci) Stewart; thirty-one great grandchildren, Cody (Lacy) Grinnis, Jessica (Josh) Tucker, Casi Cook, Brittany Gentry, Lindsey Cook, Brian Cook, Kaden Bryant, Kyler Bryant, Bayleigh DeSalvo, Danica Moore, Rickson Moore, Jasper Cook, John Robert Freels, Jonah Freels, Luke Gibson, Lily Gibson, Lincoln Gibson, Nate Simpson, Aiden Beshears, Henry Beshears, Jayden and Russell Simpson, Declan and Gunner Simpson, Addison Scott, Emma Scott, Oakley Rhodes, Case Rhodes, Wyatt Stewart and Westin Stewart; five great-great-grandchildren, Lillie, Lyla, Sadie, Penn and Poppy; one brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Theresa Cook of Kirby; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, December 3, 2021, in the Bear Creek Cemetery with Bro. George “Boots” Donaldson officiating.

Visitation will be Thursday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.

Pallbearers will be Mike Cook, Pete Cook, Heath Cook, Billy Bryant, Kobie Stewart and Wade Stewart.

Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses and staff of Elite Hospice of Mena.
