Earnesteen Jones Roberts Shepherd

Earnesteen Jones Roberts Shepherd, age 91, of Mount Ida passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2016. She was born on April 7, 1925, in Mauldin, the daughter of Ira Jones and Ella May Tyler Jones. She was preceded in death by her son, Virgil Ray Roberts; her parents; her great-granddaughter, Eden Mazzuchi; two brothers, Fred Jones and Creo Jones; and two sisters, Murial Harrin and Wanetta Head. She was a gifted and talented poetry writer and enjoyed reading and sharing her poems with her family and friends. She was blessed with an extraordinary memory, especially her remembrance of past history of people and events from Montgomery County. She graciously took time to share many stories that have been recorded and saved for family and friends to enjoy for years to come. Earnesteen was a loving and wonderful mother, who had the most heartfelt love for her grandchildren. She was truly the meaning of a "special" person to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed, but her family is blessed to have many treasured memories she leaves behind for each of them to cherish. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ira Van Byron and Robbie Roberts of Kingston, Oklahoma; her daughter and son-in-law, Trecia and Robert Chedister of Laurel Hill, Florida; nine grandchildren, Albert Heer, David Heer, Christe Mazzuchi, Gabe Chedister, Brad Chedister, Yomi Faminu, Connie Roberts, Jeremy Roberts and Colleen Roberts; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members; and a host of wonderful friends. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, April 16, 2016, in the Mount Ida Cemetery with Major General Robert W. Chedister officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM, prior to the services at the cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses and staff of the Montgomery County Nursing Home for all the kind and wonderful care given to our precious Mother. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
