Emogene Reid Scott

Emogene Reid Scott, age 90, of Benton, formerly of Glenwood, passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021.

She was born August 6, 1931, in Langley, Arkansas, the daughter of Barney B. York and Rosie Simmons York. On July 24, 1948, she married Rudolph Reid who preceded her in death on March 16, 1992. On June 25, 2005, she married Norvil Scott, Jr. who preceded her in death four days earlier on Saturday, November 6, 2021. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Hazel Breashears, Etta McGough, Gusta Burgess and Essie York; and her brother, George York.

Emogene worked for almost thirty years with the Indianapolis Glove Factory, now Shelby Manufacturing. After retirement, she began working for Wrights Food Center in their deli. She was an active member of the Glenwood Free Will Baptist Church and the Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, gardening and her very brisk walks around Glenwood.

She is survived by three children and their spouses, Lew and Carolyn Reid of Benton, Sheila and Tom Sass of Brentwood, Tennessee and Randy and Loretta Reid of Glenwood; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Tonya and Mike Henry, Angela and Bill Stroope, Chris and Bethann Bowman Sass, Amanda Sass, Mark and Misty Sass, April and Greg McCuin and Chase and Kelly Reid; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services for Emogene and Norvil Scott will be held together at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 13, 2021, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood with Bro. Ron Parker, Bro. Joe Ray Short and Bro. Brian Hill officiating.

Visitation for the Scotts will be Saturday, 9:00 AM until service time.

Interment for Mrs. Scott will be at Liberty Cemetery in Newhope following the funeral service. Interment for Mr. Scott will be held at 3:30 PM, Saturday, at Rocky Cemetery in Sims.

Pallbearers will be Chris Sass, Mark Sass, Chase Reid, Kenny Fant, Tommy Burgess and Correy Stroope.
