Evelyn Juanita Blade Dykes Bailey

April 15, 1976 — July 10, 2021

Evelyn Juanita Blade Dykes Bailey, age 45, of Haughton, Louisiana, formerly of Glenwood, entered into rest on Saturday, July 10, 2021, in Greenwood, Mississippi.

She was born on April 15, 1976, in Hollandale, Mississippi, the daughter of Thomas “Tommy” Ottis Woods Blade and Juanita Singleton Blade Skaggs Bradshaw. She was preceded in death by father, Thomas Ottis Woods Blade; her paternal grandparents, Melvin Ottis (Ruby) Woods and Gladys Mae Cummings Woods Blade (Naud) Taylor; her maternal grandparents, Johnny Everette (Mary) Singleton and Margaret Ann Hicks Singleton Burke (James) Billiter.

Evelyn is survived by her precious son, Caleb Barker of Glenwood, Arkansas; her mother, Juanita Bradshaw of Haughton, Louisiana; her brother and sister-in-law, Elvis and Sandra Blade of Arab, Alabama; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Gladys and Brad Reeves of Guntersville, Alabama, Laura Leeth of Greenville, Mississippi, Renee and Jeff Kuhn of Glenwood, Angela and Kent Jenkins of Dayton, Ohio, Jessica Blade of Glenwood and Jena Blade of Haughton, Louisiana; adjacent siblings and their spouses, Mary Tompkins (Joey) Wright, Robin Tompkins Jolly and Beverly Tompkins Davis, all of Cedar Bluff, Mississippi; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

For several years, Evelyn owned and operated her own cleaning business. She was an experienced bartender and waitress and loved cooking and gardening. Among her favorite flowers, were red knockout roses and yellow mums. A woman that loved to race cars on the dirt track and ride Harley Davidson motorcycles, Evelyn didn’t keep her racing on the dirt and asphalt only, she also loved to race jet skies and boats on the water. She came by this naturally, for her Dad, Tommy, was also a race car driver in his younger years.

Evelyn’s family will miss those moments that include her large smiles and will lament her long lost happiness. The family takes this brief moment to plead with others to not be ashamed to seek positive and professional support for physical health, mental health, and addictions. Remember to always respect yourself even when no one else does. Draw close to your supporters and seek Jesus, the tender Healer, one day at a time.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, July 14, 2021, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood with Pastor David Farmer officiating.
