Gary Alton "Paw Paw" Bean

Gary Alton "Paw Paw" Bean, age 64, of Amity, died Sunday, May 31, 2015. He was born on October 20, 1950 at Hot Springs, the son of the late Alton Bean and Mable Tackett Bean. On January 28, 1972, he married the love of his life, Cynthia Ann Callaway, who he was not only married to but worked side by side with for over 43 years. During that time, they were blessed with five children and seventeen grandchildren with one on the way. He worked for over 40 years with his family at Alton Bean Trucking, Inc. which he helped found with his father in 1969. He was a Christian in his faith and a deacon of Amity First Baptist Church where he sang in the church choir. He coached several basketball, football, and baseball teams over the years. He was a member of Gideons International and coached mission basketball teams to Venezuela and Cancun, Mexico. He was a caring man always trying to help others with their needs. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Bean of Amity; his sons and daughters, Gary II and Tina Bean of Amity, Tom and Lisa Bean, Lindi and Randy Alexander, Beau and Kassi Graves, and Samantha Harris, all of Glenwood; his grandchildren, Alton, Madison, Chloe, Lauren, Grace, Haylee, Isabella, and baby-to-be Kelsi Bean, Garrett, Eli, Taylor, Tucker, and Kennedi Alexander, Lexi and Bentley Graves, Noelle, Hunner, and Jaycee Davis; his sisters and brothers, Judy and Gary Holmes of Glenwood, Bobby and Terri Callaway of Nashville, Elessie Covey of Hot Springs and Vickie and David Egleston of Arkadelphia; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 6, 2015 in Amity First Baptist Church with Bro. John McAnally and Bro. Larry Linam officiating. Visitation will be Friday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Jones Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Danny Garner, Brian Kirksey, Randy Sorrells, Randy Hardy, Jody Cowart, Randall Smith, James Drye, and Thomas Fagan. Honorary pallbearers will be Gerald Loyd, Edith Lambert, Doris and Gerald Taylor, Bob Vlasis, Bro. John McAnally, the employees of Alton Bean Trucking, Inc. and the members of First Baptist Church Amity. Memorials can be made to Amity First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 168, Amity, Arkansas 71921.
