George F. Reid

September 22, 1931 — March 28, 2014

George F. Reid, age 82, of Glenwood, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014. He was born on September 22, 1931, in Glenwood, the son of Millard Reid and Ova Alford Reid. On May 19, 1956, he was married to Mildred McKinnon. He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Michael Wayne Reid; his granddaughter, Hope Reid; three brothers, Rudolph Reid, Shelby Reid and Travis Reid; and one sister, Yvonne Shipman. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, a member of Grace Baptist Church, and truly enjoyed playing both the guitar and mandolin. He was an electronics technician, working for many years particularly on CBs and HAM radios and was an experienced HAM radio operator, as well. Anyone who knew George will remember him as a witty person always with a humorous story to tell; and was most famous for being able to remember and quote everyone's birthday that he had ever met or knew. His greatest love in life was spending time with his family, whom he dearly loved with all his heart. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, but his memory will be carried on in each of their hearts forever. He is survived by his loving wife, Mildred Reid of Glenwood; three sons and daughters-in-law, Edwin and Kim Reid, Dennis and Colleen Reid and Marion Reid, all of Glenwood; six grandchildren, Kaci Reid, Justin Reid, Jason Reid, Kadi Reid, Lil' Dennis Reid and Miles Reid; twelve great-grandchildren, Karlie, Brook, Gage, Tyler, Kamryn, Tyler, Chandler, Gaven, Talan, Jacylyn, Addison and Jett; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Gene and Priscilla Reid of Kirby and Glen Reid of Glenwood; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Vennis Parker of Lodi, Sheryl and Tommy Welch of Glenwood, Rachel Moore of Hot Springs and Martha Westfall of Glenwood; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of wonderful friends. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, March 31, 2014, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. James Owens and Bro. J. B. Evans officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Justin Reid, Jason Reid, Dennis Reid, Kaci Reid, Miles Reid and Adam Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, great-grandchildren; the nurses and staff of Arkansas Hospice, 5th Floor, Mercy Hospital, Hot Springs; and the nurses and staff of the Glenwood Nursing and Rehab.
