Gregory D. Toye

Gregory D. Toye, age 56, of Schulenburg, Texas, formerly of Glenwood, passed away on Monday, July 12, 2021.

He was born on September 9, 1964, in Rockford, Illinois, the son of Jerry Dale Toye and Wanda Mae Meadors Toye. On July 6, 1985, he was married to the love of his life, Ann Marie Minnick. He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Lorraine Swick, his cousin, Bruce Edwards; and several loving aunts and uncles.

Greg earned his bachelor’s degree from Penn State University and owned and operated a building manufacturing company for many years. He enjoyed drag racing and spending time with his family. He was a wonderful husband, and an amazing father, but his greatest and most favorite role was being “Papa”. Greg was truly a great man to all who had the joy of knowing him and he will be deeply missed.

Greg is survived by his loving wife, Ann Toye of Schulenburg, Texas; his children and their spouses, Shawna Toye and Ben Sliger of Schulenburg, Texas and Levi Toye and Faith Burton of Weimar, Texas; three grandchildren, Wesley Toye, Wyatt Snider and Maeycee Sliger; his sister, Sherry Fiedler of Hot Springs; his loving sisters-in-law and their spouses, Vick and Rick Pratt of Durand, Illinois, Deb Leanord of Rockford, Illinois, Jody and Mike Scott of Merimac, Wisconsin and Vick Swick of North Carolina; his many nieces and nephews; his racing family; and the many friends he claimed as family along the way.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 17, 2021, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood with Bro. Scott Vaughn and Bro. J. B. Evans officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ted McCall, John McDade, Shaud Blakely, Rustin Ledbetter, Keith Morton, Blaine Shamblin and Kevin Shirley.
