Harold Lee Smedley

Harold Lee Smedley, age 66, of Black Springs, died Friday, March 1, 2013. He was born on December 3, 1946 at San Antonio, Texas, the son of Sikes Smedley and Gladys Campbell Smedley. On March 16, 1968, he was married to Janice Reynolds. He was preceded in death by his son, Jonathan Reynolds Smedley. A United States Army veteran, he served in Vietnam in 1968 and 1969. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. He enjoyed drag car racing and racing at the Centerville Raceway. He was a member of the Norman First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Janice Smedley of Black Springs; two children, Lee Ann Wright of Glenwood and Samuel Smedley of Arkadelphia; four grandchildren, Kayla Porter, Kinsey Porter, Clay Smedley and Layla Smedley; his great-grandson, Elijah Harberson; his sister, Darlene Hill of Abilene, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 4, 2013 in the Mount Gilead Baptist Church with Bro. Andy Kennedy officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, 1:00 PM until service time at the church. Interment with military honors will be held in the Mount Gilead Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Dave Hellerich, Sr., John Norman, Connie Norman, Eric Foster, Wayne Styles and Randy Coffman. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Losers Lounge.
