Hazel A. Hawthorn

Hazel A. Hawthorn, age 88, of Hot Springs, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021.

She was born on May 14, 1932 in Center Ridge, Arkansas, the daughter of Phillip Sheridan Williams and Ella Mae Flowers Williams. On December 12, 1953, she was married to Doyle Hawthorn. She was preceded in death by her parents and was the last surviving member of nine children.

Hazel was a very active member of Lake Hamilton Church of the Nazarene. She was retired from Southwestern Bell having worked for the company in Oklahoma and Hot Springs. After retirement, she operated her homebased day care center and also worked at G. E. Hawthorn Meat Company. Hazel loved to cook and shared that love with Wednesday night dinners at church, family get-togethers and the lunch break for family and employees of the family business when they would gather around that long Hawthorn dinner table.

She is survived by her husband, Doyle Hawthorn of Hot Springs; four children and their spouses, Sheryl and Leo Wooldridge of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Michael and Terri Hawthorn of Hot Springs, Melony and Jackie Chambers of San Antonio, Texas and Susan Williams of Hot Springs; seventeen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 2:30 PM, Saturday, May 15, 2021, in the Lake Hamilton Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Steve Holmgren officiating.
