Helen E. Woodson

Helen E. Woodson, age 90, of Sunnyvale, Texas, died Monday, November 5, 2012. She was born on March 6, 1922, at Amity, the daughter of Johnnie Wesley Garner and Josie Opal Parsons Garner. On July 27, 1940, she was married to James Edwin Woodson who preceded her in death on November 24, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Gladys Garner and Gussie Taylor; and one brother, Voyt Taylor. She was a graduate of Amity High School, a chicken farmer and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Amity. She was a loving housewife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James C. and Connie Woodson of Sunnyvale, Texas and Thomas E. and Marsha Woodson of Afton, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Lori Stevens of Rowlett, Texas, James Woodson of Longview, Texas, Lana Roark of Claremore, Oklahoma and Valarie McNeill of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; twelve great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 10, 2012, in the Jones Cemetery in Amity with Bro. John McAnally officiating. There will be public viewing on Friday, 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM, at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
