Homer Porter

Homer Porter, age 66, of Quitman, formerly of Hopper, gained his wings on Tuesday, March 31, 2020. He was born on March 6, 1954, in Fancy Hill, the son of Alvie M. Porter and Bertha Bell Dunnam Porter. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Paul Porter. Homer was a good man, who will be remembered for his big heart, his generous soul who was the person you could come to with anything that needed to be fixed or worked on, and for always putting others before himself. He attended Wesley Chapel Church and had a true passion for fishing. On any usual day, if he wasnt busy fixing things you could always find him on the lake, where he was as happy as he could be. Homer fought a long and courageous battle with cancer, until he just became too tired to fight anymore, and has now won his battle and is smiling and fishing in those big lakes in heaven, with no more suffering and pain. He was loved by so many and will truly be missed, but instead of saying goodbye, we simply say "Rest in Peace", our beloved Homer (Daddy). He is survived by his daughter, whom he adored, Ashley Porter of Norman; his loving other half and her daughters, Cindy Neeley of Quitman; and Laura Lucky and April Clark; and his six grandchildren, Brittney Carr, Lucy Carr, Dylan Burson, Abigail Burson, and Kai and Kirin Yates. It was Homers request that there were to be no formal services conducted. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home and Crematory, Glenwood. To all his friends from the Glenwood, Hopper and surrounding areas, the family would like to extend a special thank you for being a part of his life. You all were a wonderful friend to him.
