Irene Cogburn Vaughn

Irene Cogburn Vaughn age 95, of Glenwood, went sweeping through the gates of glory on Friday, June 21, 2019, blissfully greeted by her Lord Jesus Christ. She was born on July 30, 1923 in Fancy Hill, the daughter of Jason Anderson "Bud" Cogburn and Florence Youngblood Cogburn. On December 14, 1946, she married the love of her life, Elbert Hilery Vaughn with whom she shared her life for 66 years. He preceded her in death on September 17, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Max Dwight Vaughn; five brothers, Jesse Cogburn, Harvey Cogburn, Dempsey Cogburn, Calvin "Pete" Cogburn and Floyd "Mac" Cogburn; and four sisters, Aronia True, Iza Wehunt, Myrtle Reynolds and Virgie Chambers. Irene was a charter member of Hilltop Full Gospel Church. She loved to witness for her Lord and invite others to church. She was devoted to reading her Bible and listening to her audio Bible when her sight began to fail. She enjoyed being with her family and playing with the children. She was a poultry farmer and enjoyed fishing, her flowers and raising a garden. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Roy, Sr. and Carole ONeal of Glenwood; one daughter and son-in-law, Ozel and Johnny Yarbrough of Glenwood; eleven grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; forty-two great-great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and others who were impacted by her faithful witness. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 25, 2019, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. David Walker and Bro. Eric Wehunt officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, in the Hilltop Full Gospel Church, 1504 Highway 70 West, in Glenwood. Interment will be in the Mount Tabor Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Timothy Davis, Jesse Davis, Jason Yarbrough, Michael ONeal, Jared Hearne, Max Vaughn, D.J. Vaughn and Dalton Vaughn. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy ONeal III, Anthony Terry, Jamie Yarbrough, Brent Yarbrough, Anthony Green, Anthony Vaughn, John Mark Baker, Austin Dycus, Dr. Matthew Hulsey and the staff of Hospice Home Care.
