Iva N. Davis

Iva N. Davis, age 93, of Langley, went to Heaven on Saturday, January 17, 2015. She was born on September 2, 1921, in Langley, the daughter of Frank Kennedy and Ella Revis Kennedy. On September 11, 1941, she was married to Oscar Davis who preceded her in death on February 17, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Neoma Tedder, Ethle Tedder, Etta White, Stella Short and Syble Kennedy; two brothers, Hereman Kennedy and Oder Kennedy; and two infant brothers. Iva and Oscar had 69 wonderful years together, always loving to ride around checking on their cows, and just sitting on the front porch holding hands. She was a faithful member of Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church at Langley, and dearly loved her church family. She also had a kind and heartfelt love for all children, and it was well known and shown, as she always had to give her wonderful hugs to each and every child anywhere she may have gone. Her love for God and her family was her greatest joy in life and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dorthy and Lee Roy Arivett of Langley; her son, Randy Davis of Memphis, Tennessee; four grandchildren and their spouses, Scott and Tammy Arivett Burkhart of Glenwood, Ryan and Rachel Davis of Memphis, Tennessee, Marty and Misti Arivett of Langley, and Jessica Davis of Memphis; nine great-grandchildren, Ricky and Heather Burkhart Moon, Ben Burkhart, Corey and Jordan Arivett McMellon, Madison Arivett, Ashton Williams, Brayden Wilson, Noah, Jena and Ellie Davis; one great-great-grandson, Russell Moon; one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Ray and Norma Davis and Jeanice Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, January 19, 2015, in the Langley Hall Cemetery Church with Bro. Donnie Davis and Bro. Scott Feemster officiating. Interment will be in the Langley Hall Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Bobby Morphew, Brian Pounds, Michael Bright, Terrell Davis, John Bright and Ryan Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be her church family. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
