James Leamons

March 7, 1941 — October 25, 2019

James Leamons, age 78, of Glenwood, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2019. He was born on March 7, 1941 in Vaden, Arkansas, the son of Garland Aaron Leamons and Frances Case Leamons. On August 20, 1963, he was married to Helen Marie Robertson Leamons, who preceded him in death on February 22, 2019. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Lillie Ann Leamons McDaniel. He was Christian in his faith and worked for many years in construction, always being known as a real workaholic. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his garden, and entering his canning, photography and other divisions in the Pike County Fair. His family will always remember how he and Helen took great joy in competing with each other in pretty much everything they would do, especially with their entries in the fair, and of course, which one loved their family the most. James was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, whose greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Trina Leamons of Berryville; his daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Robert Porter of Glenwood; five grandchildren, Cody Barrett, Jessie Leamons, Dillon Constantino, Kayla Porter and Kinsey Porter; three sisters, Hazel Jennings of Conway, Helen Hagins of Fordyce and Charlotte Slater of Gurdon; his brother-in-law, Jimmy Robertson, and his wife, Sharon of Glenwood; his sister-in-law, Debra Nichols of Glenwood; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 28, 2019, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Chris Williams officiating. Visitation will be Monday, 9:00 AM until service time, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the County Line Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dillon Constantino, Jessie Leamons, Calvin Nichols, Brian Bailey, Jason Tweedle and Tony Breshears. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
