Jimmy "J. J." Jenkins

December 3, 1940 — November 28, 2014

Jimmy "J. J." Jenkins, age 73, of Daisy, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2014. He was born on December 3, 1940 at Glenwood, the son of the late Otis Henderson Jenkins and Ora Mae Orrick Jenkins. On October 29, 2014, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Betty Jenkins. After 36 years of service, Jimmy retired as an electrician with the Briar Plant in Nashville. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with all of his family, especially his wife, daughter, son-in-law and only granddaughter. After his retirement, he dedicated many hours each and every week of the year to working on his Christmas Light Display, which is well known in all of the surrounding counties; an event loved by all. The "Camp Tula Christmas Lights" is a display that will never be forgotten, truly done with love and perfection; each piece a wonderful result of many hours of dedication, hard work and sweat. His lights are on display this year in Jimmy's and Betty's honor and memory by all of his family, friends and neighbors. It is their way of showing their appreciation for all of his years of hard work and giving to all who came to see his display. Jimmy is survived by his only daughter, Anita Jenkins Diggs; his son-in-law and best friend, James Diggs; and a very special granddaughter, Deidre "Dee" James, all of Daisy; four brothers and one sister-in-law, John "Jack" Jenkins, Rufus Jenkins, Robert "Bob" Jenkins and Tommy and Daisy Jenkins, all of Glenwood; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 2, 2014, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Kevin Jewell officiating. Visitation will be Monday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Mount Joy Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Strasner, Jerry Fox, Paul Myers, Steve Young, Danny Smead and Chester Semmler. Honorary pallbearers will be Deidre James, Curtis O'Neal, Kailey O'Neal, Tessa O'Neal, Larry O'Neal and Brigittie O'Neal. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
