Joe Tyree, age 84, of Norman, died Thursday, June 12, 2014. He was born on December 19, 1929, in Oklahoma, the son of Joe Tyree, Sr. and Eva Rowton Tyree. On February 14, 1999, he was married to Karen Schmiege. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Lane Tyree and Kevin Tyree; and one brother, Billy Ray Tyree. He was a member of Murphy Baptist Church, served stateside as a U.S. Marine and retired from Weyerhaeuser in Longview, Washington. He enjoyed Ham radio and loved spending time riding his Harley. He is survived by his wife, Karen Tyree of Norman; his daughter, Rosie Tover of Reno, Nevada; his granddaughter, Jennifer Tover of Fife, Washington; his great-grandson, Josh Tover of Fife, Washington; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, J.D. and Cleone Tyree of Norman, Don and Ellie Tyree of Hot Springs and Ingrid Tyree of Mukilteo, Washington; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of wonderful friends. A Memorial Service will be held by the family at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 20, 2014, in the Murphy Baptist Church with Pastor Brandon Westgate officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
