John Gordon Emanuel, Jr.

John Gordon Emanuel, Jr., a kind and loving Christian man, passed from this life to his heavenly life on Thursday, November 28, 2013, at his home in Amory, Mississippi, after a long battle with a malignant brain tumor from 1987. He was born February 14, 1954 in St. Louis, Missouri, the oldest child of John, Sr. and Joan Lamprecht Emanuel. Moving with his family to Wisconsin prior to his senior year of high school, he graduated from Wauwatosa West High School in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin in 1972 and graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point in 1976. On September 15, 1979, John married Patsy Whisenhunt in Newhope. John worked for Weyerhaeuser Company in Dierks, DeQueen, Columbus, Mississippi and Amory, Mississippi until June 1995. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church in Amory. Services will be 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Rev. Jimmy Criddle officiating. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home of Amory is in the charge of arrangements. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday December 3, 2013 at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Newhope, AR under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Survivors include his wife, Pat Emanuel of Amory; his mother, Joan Emanuel of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin; two sisters, Carol Chop of Loveland, Colorado and Beth Kuhnke (Jeff) of Greendale, Wisconsin; nephews, Mike Deaton of Newhope, Luke Chop and David Chop of Loveland, Colorado, and Ben Kuhnke of Greendale, Wisconsin; nieces, Amy Bennett (Heath) of White Hall, Arkansas, Emily Chop of Denver, Colorado, and Sarah Kuhnke of Greendale, Wisconsin; brother-in-law, Barry Denton of Newhope; great niece, Mazie Bennett and great nephew, Bo Bennett of White Hall, Arkansas; and his caregiver for the past 10 years, Ellen Jean Boggan. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; William and Gladys Emanuel and Jerry and Merle Lamprecht; his father, John Emanuel, Sr.; his in-laws, Robert and Bonnie Jean Whisenhunt; sister-in-law, Pam Whisenhunt Deaton; brother-in-law, Chris Chop; aunt and godmother, Margie Greiser, other aunts, uncles, and cousins. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Amory; Pleasant Grove Freewill Baptist Church in Newhope or to a charity of choice.
