John L. Burnett

John L. Burnett, age 84, of Amity, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2020. He was born on June 16, 1935 in Amity, the son of John E. Burnett and Nancy Henthorn Burnett. On October 1, 1960, he was married to Lois Ann Black. He was preceded in death by his parents; and six brothers, Claude Carey, David Carey, Floyd Burnett, Brice Burnett, Troy Burnett and Arzell Burnett. He was a member and deacon of Caney Valley Missionary Baptist Church. For many years, he kept the church property and cemetery mowed and looking nice. He retired as foreman for the Pike County Road Department in 1991. He enjoyed taking care of his yard and making a garden. He is survived by his wife, Lois Burnett of Amity; four sisters, Mauddean Knighten of Wynnewood, Oklahoma, Lauddean Alberson of Allen, Oklahoma, Lorrean Tedford of Pencil Bluff and Shirley Bryant of Morrilton; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 15, 2020, in the Caney Valley Cemetery with Bro. Bryan Fendley officiating. Pallbearers will be Raymond Kolbicka, Robert Kolbicka, Gary Edwards, David Whisenhunt, Shawn Shields and Richard Ray. Memorials may be made to the Caney Valley Cemetery Fund, %Dr. Trent Ott, 22 Palestine Road, Amity, Arkansas 71921. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
