Johnny W. Oneal

Johnny W. Oneal, age 44, of Black Springs, went to heaven on Saturday, June 6, 2020.

He was born on June 4, 1976, in Murfreesboro, the son of Kennie Ray Cogburn and Terry Oneal. Johnny was preceded in death by his brothers, Curtis Oneal and Brandon “B.J.” Oneal.

Johnny loved fishing, hunting, camping, metal-detecting, collecting knives, riding 4-wheelers, back road riding, changing music lyrics to make anyone laugh, and eating the spiciest food he could get his hand on! Johnny’s greatest joy in life was genuinely spending time with his family and friends.

Johnny was kind-hearted, gentle, outgoing, generous, energetic, and always ready for an adventure. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shandi Oneal; two sons, William Oneal and Trent Freeman; two daughters, Courtney Oneal and Hannah Oneal; his parents, Kennie Ray Cogburn and Terry Oneal; his brother, Ricky Ray Cogburn; his grandmother, Shirley Davis; his in-laws, Gary Willmon and Dr. Connie Cummings; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

A memorial visitation to celebrate Johnny’s life will be held from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM, Saturday, June 13, 2020, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood. Social distancing directives will be in place with no more than 50 persons at any one time in the funeral home chapel, avoidance of physical contact and all attendees 10 years of age or older must be wearing a face covering to enter.
