Joyce B. Tolleson

Joyce B. Tolleson, age 81, of Kirby, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2016. He was born on October 30, 1934 at Kirby, the son of Roy Martin Tolleson and Letha Gurnsey Tolleson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Alton Tolleson; his son-in-law, Robbie Funderburk; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elder Jesse and Dimple Duren. On April 10, 1955, he married the love of his life, Joyce Nell Duren. He cared for her and his entire family with a love without measure. Joyce was a United States Army veteran. He retired as a construction worker and foreman with R. D. Plant, Inc. A devoted member and deacon of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, he was a dedicated church servant and Sunday school teacher. He was a friend to all in the community and was always there when help was needed. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Nell Tolleson of Kirby; three daughters and their spouses, Genene and Troy Titus of Smackover, Vicki and Jack Herring and Karen Funderburk, all of Kirby; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his brother, Elder Sonny Tolleson of Kirby; his sister and brother-in-law, Maurice and Elder Bobby Golden of Kirby; his sister-in-law, Louise Tolleson of Kirby; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 15, 2016, in the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Jack Herring, Bro. Melvin Markham and Bro. James Calhoun officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Lynn Tolleson, Wes Johns, Keith Duren, Mike Funderburk, Danny Walker and Greg Smith. Memorials may be made to Ebenezer Cemetery, PO Box 131, Kirby, Arkansas, 71950.
