Juanita Black, age 85, of Norman, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2020.

She was born on April 12, 1935 in the Hopper community of Montgomery County, the daughter of German Alston and Ella Thomas Alston. On August 22, 1953, she was married to James D. Black who preceded her in death on August 9, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Clyde Alston.

For many years, she worked for Melba’s Café in Norman and her joy in life was being with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Deborah “Sissy” Harton of Caddo Gap, Lorrie and Mark Knapp of Eureka, Illinois and Annita and Richie Davis of Atkins; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; her sister, Mary Abernathy of Little Rock; and her brother, G. C. Alston of Pontiac, Michigan.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 23, 2020, in the Gaston Cemetery with Bro. Bobby Lock officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
