Kathy Wheat Self, age 61, of Benton, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021.

She was born on October 26, 1959, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the daughter of John Wheat and Mary Lee Jackson Wheat. On May 12, 1979, she was married to Gary Self. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Amber Self; her father; and her father-in-law, Glynn Self.

Known as a people person, Kathy never met a stranger, took time to visit with everyone and was a good listener who made everyone feel comfortable. She was a loving pastor’s wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Cross Roads Missionary Baptist Church. She was proud of the fact she was a breast cancer survivor and was always a true LSU Tiger fan.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Self of Benton; her son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Sarah Self of Little Rock; her three grandchildren, Mackenzie Self, Bailey Self and Connor Self; her mother, Mary Wheat of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; her sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Frank Smith of Madisonville, Louisiana; and her mother-in-law, Betty Sue Self, of Kirby.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 27, 2021, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Danny Bradley officiating.

Visitation will be Tuesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.

Social distancing directives will be in place with no more than 66% total occupancy at any one time in the funeral home chapel, avoidance of physical contact and all attendees 10 years of age or older must be wearing a face covering at all times.

Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Cody Self, Wayne Self, Jordan Phillips, Glynn Smith, Troy Burton and Kyle Cowart.
