Lewis "Yogi Bear" Vaughn

Lewis "Yogi Bear" Vaughn, age 82, of Glenwood, died Sunday, June 28, 2015. He was born on May 12, 1933 at Glenwood, the son of Hibert Delmar Vaughn and Lona Elizabeth Vaught Vaughn. On June 21, 2015, one week earlier, he was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-two years, Helen D. Vaughn. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and five grandchildren. A retired truck driver, Lewis enjoyed visiting with all of his family and friends, especially his kids and grandkids. He was a member of the Glenwood First Church of the Nazarene. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Laura Graham of Washington, Oklahoma, Delmer and Winona Vaughn of Glenwood and Shane and Brandi Vaughn of Dierks; six daughters and three sons-in-law, Katrina and Jerry Applegate of Pittsburg, Texas, Deena and Larry Sykes of Baker, Florida, Regina Mars of Jupiter, Florida, Treva Foster of Glenwood, Tammy and James Carter of Hot Springs and Stephanie Moran of Hot Springs; twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; his sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Billy Jones of Hot Springs; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, July 1, 2015, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. J. B. Evans and Bro. Phil Hull officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A private burial at a later date will be held by the family in Lodi Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Finney, Mike Blaine, Scott Foster, Mike Boutwell, Jerry Applegate; and his grandsons, Cody, Mikey, Christopher, David, Chad, Derek, Seth, Little Larry and Mark. A special thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff of National Park Medical Center, DaVita Dialysis Center, Dierksen Hospice, especially Michael Jones and Sharon Jones. For going beyond supporting and caring for us during this time, thank you to his son-in-law, James Carter, family friend, Brent Patterson and granddaughter, Teresa Boutwell.
