Lila Compton

Lila Compton, age 81, of Wake Village, Texas, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021.

She was born on January 3, 1940, in Maud, Texas, the daughter of Charles Ennis Hicks and Obera Hill Hicks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Compton; her daughter, Rhonda Suitor; her parents; three brothers; and four sisters.

An avid gardener, she enjoyed growing and tending her flowers and she had a passion for art and painting. She was a member of the Wake Village First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Mike Cowart of Lodi; five grandchildren, Brian Cowart, Shawn Cowart, Mandee Cowart, Jessica Lischak and Brianna Suitor; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; three brothers, James Hicks, Donald Hicks and Paul Hicks, all of Texarkana, Texas; her sister, Rena Herrington of Texarkana, Arkansas; and her nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be Thursday, 9:00 AM until 4:00 AM at Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, July 30, 2021, in the Chapelwood Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Cowart officiating.

Visitation will be held Friday, 1:00 PM until service time, at Chapelwood Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.

Pallbearers will be Brian Cowart, Shawn Cowart, Colton Cowart, James Hicks, Donald Hicks and Kurt Hicks.
