Linda Marlene Meeks Reed

March 29, 1950 — October 10, 2020

Linda Marlene Meeks Reed, age70, of Hot Springs, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 10, 2020.

Linda was saved at the age of 13. She graduated from Cutter Morning Star School then achieved her degree in Business Education from Henderson State University and got her master’s degree in Library Science at University of Central Arkansas. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Education Sorority. She was also a member of the Sweet Adelines International Choir. She was employed at Southwestern Bell until 1984 when she attained her Elementary teaching certificate and started teaching. She became a full time teacher at Lake Hamilton Middle School for the next 27 years. She moved from teaching and became the middle school librarian and Media Specialist until her retirement in 2012.

She was a member of Centerfork Missionary Baptist Church, she was proud to be the church librarian and loved the friends that she made there.

Linda loved to read, crochet, gardening and travel after her retirement. She often said that she loved Colorado and would love to live there if she could.

At 70 years young, she is survived by her husband with whom she was married for 50 years, Marcus Chaney Reed of Hot Springs (and Duke the mini sheltie); one son, Marcus Scott Reed of Hot Springs; two daughters and one son-in-law, Rebecca Emily Reed of Hot Springs and Rachael Elizabeth LaPointe-Phillips and Phil Phillips of Alexander; five grandchildren, Jeremy, John, Cory, Colin (CJ) and Tabitha all of Hot Springs; three brothers, Donald Meeks of Sparkman, James Meeks of Hot Springs and Gary Meeks of Magnet Cove; one sister, Shirley Jones of Hot Springs; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members; and a host of wonderful friends.

Services will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 10:00AM in the Centerfork Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Scott Bates officiating.

Interment will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00PM–8:00PM at the funeral home.

Social distancing directives will be in place with no more than 66% of the total seating capacity occupied at the church or funeral home, avoidance of physical contact and all attendees 10 years of age or older must be wearing a face covering at all times during the service.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Krzak, John Fields, Colin LaPointe, Cory LaPointe, Gerald Byram, and Russ Wilson.

A special thank you to Dr. William Cole and Dr. Ross Bandy for the care they gave throughout the years.
