Louise Mae Humphreys

April 29, 1931 — April 23, 2020

Louise Mae Humphreys, 88, Dixon, IL, formerly of Royal, AR., passed away Thursday, April 23, 2020, in Dixon, IL. Louise was born June 29, 1931, in Oregon, IL, the daughter of Paul C. and Ethel Effie (Austin) Johnson. Louise married J. Roy Humphreys on July 11, 1953, in Oregon, IL. She was a lifetime member of Church of God and a charter member of Hot Springs Baptist Church. Louise loved animals, especially cats, but most of all she loved taking care of and spending time with her husband and family. The words strength, resilience, grace, faith and honor immediately describe Louise. She was a steadfast believer. A deeply devoted wife and mother. A truly adored and respected grandmother. The type of person that changes the life and perspective of those blessed enough to get to know her. Her life was truly one of purpose and devotion. She passed those qualities on to her daughters and grandchildren. In that way she is still very much with us. What a gift she was! She is survived by three daughters, Virginia or Ginnie (Greg) Kraft, of Dixon, IL., Deborah (Robert) Walty of Stephens City, VA. and Ruth Ellen (Duke) Haight of Hot Springs, AR.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, her parents; and brother, Robert P. Johnson. The family would like to thank Serenity House Hospice of Oregon, IL and Dixon Health and Rehabilitation, Dixon, IL. for taking care of our mother during the last two months when we couldnt be there for her because of Covid-19. Arrangements are being handled by the Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs, AR. Cremation rites were accorded. Burial will be at Lowe Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Hot Springs Baptist Church, 144 Weston Road, Hot Springs, AR. 71913. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
