Margaret Jane Bratton

Margaret Jane Bratton, age 92, of Anderson, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at her home. She was born on June 24, 1925, in Keensburg, Illinois the daughter of Jesse Smallwood and Mary Butler Smallwood. On February 12, 1947, she was married to Lewis Milton Bratton who preceded her in death on June 26, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Joshua Bratton; her parents; and two sisters. She was a loving mother, wife and grandmother, who took great joy in doting on her family. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed gardening and always had the ability to grow almost any kind of plant. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and extended family of nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Colorado, and Lewis Army Reunion family. Our beloved Margaret will be dearly missed by each and every member of her family. She is survived by her daughter, Sue Tarvin and friend, Terry Pruitt of Anderson, Indiana; two sons, Gary Bratton of Glenwood and Neal Bratton of Anderson, Indiana; her granddaughter, Sarah and Ron Bennett of San Antonio, Texas; her grandson, Brian Tarvin of Anderson, Indiana; two great-granddaughters, Megan and Shelby Wibright, both of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Betty Leek of Yorktown, Indiana and Dorothea Ligon of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members; and a host of wonderful friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 28, 2017, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Bobby Lock officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Neal Bratton, Gary Bratton, Brian Tarvin, Stanley Taylor, Roy Rogers and Ron Bennett. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
