Margie Brown Threet, age 82, of Amity, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017. She was born on January 23, 1935 in Amity, the daughter of Otis William Cogburn and Martha Garrett Cogburn. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Threet; her parents; and two brothers, Noel Cogburn and Eugene Cogburn. Margie was a waitress for many years at the Lux Caf in Glenwood and was Assembly of God in her faith. In the early 1970s, she was one of the first members with the Glenwood Rescue Unit who provided a volunteer ambulance service to this area. She is survived by three sons and their spouses, Bill and Paula Montgomery of Fancy Hill, Bob and Sheila Montgomery of Glenwood and Larry Brown of California; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her brother, Clifton Cogburn of Amity; and her nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, October 6, 2017, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. George "Boots" Donaldson and Hardie Reynolds officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Salem Cemetery near Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Montgomery, Chad Montgomery, Stevie Kirkpatrick, Peter Montgomery, Jerimy Adams and Dewight Mack. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
