Mazie Cook

Mazie Cook, age 93, of Newhope, died Thursday, August 4, 2011. She was born on June 27, 1918 at Newhope, the daughter of Barney Fox and Rosa McLaughlin Fox. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Leo Smith; her second husband, Curtis Cook; her parents; two sisters, Lois Davis and Virdean Whisenhunt; and her son-in-law, Deloy Jester. Mazie was the oldest member of Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church. She was an avid quilter and gardener. She is survived by her daughter, Ceola Jester of Newhope; three grandchildren, Jennifer Carmichael of Little Rock, Becky Mounts and Michael Jester both of Newhope; eight great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Jerry Fox of Daisy; two sisters, Billie Moore of Newhope and Ruby Jester of Hot Springs; her step-son, Ray Cook of Kirby; her step-daughter, Wanda Sweeden of Murfreesboro; four step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 9:00 AM, Saturday, August 6, 2011 in the Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Kenny Fant officiating. Visitation will be held at Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church on Friday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery under the direction Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be John Whisenhunt, Nic Mounts, Todd Mounts, Tyler Jester, Mason Jester, Chase Carmichael, McKinzie Carmichael and Brandy Tolleson. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
