N. L. Powell

N. L. Powell, age 84, of Norman, was called home on Sunday, April 22, 2012. N. L. was born into this world on January 16, 1928, at Alamo, Arkansas, the son of John Joe Powell and Nellie Norman Powell. On August 31, 1950, he was married to Joanne Johnston Powell in Mena, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; three sisters; and his daughter-in-law, Patricia Reynolds Powell, Joe's wife. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Powell of Norman; and five children, Judy and Steve Pittman of Glenwood, Joe Powell of Norman, Terry and Deborah Morris Powell of Norman, Sharla and Tim Atkinson of Norman and Rod and Ragina Jones Powell of Norman. He was blest with fifteen grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. He was a farmer by trade and a faithful Christian whose theme was salvation by the grace of Jesus Christ, his only Lord and Savior. He served his country in the United States Army. Graveside services and military honors will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 25, 2012 in the Powell Cemetery located on Liberty Road, Norman, with Bro. Bruce Tidwell and Bro. Barry Norman officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Steven Pittman, Joey Powell, Jake Powell, Seth Powell, Zack Powell and Jacob Powell.
