Family & friends are invited to a Celebration of Life for Norma Barkman on Sunday, September 26th, 2021 at the Alpine Community Center beginning at 12:00 pm. Norma J. Barkman “Lee” died tragically in an automobile accident on Wednesday, September 23, 2021. She was 43 years old.

Norma was raised in Alpine, AR and was the valedictorian of her graduating class of Amity High School in 1997. Norma immediately began fulfilling her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse by enrolling at Henderson State University where she completed her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing in 2002. She has been a nurse for 19 years and was working as a Charge Nurse at Twin Rivers Health and Rehab in Arkadelphia.

Norma was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She had an outgoing and caring personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went. Norma was also an active member of the Alpine community serving on the volunteer fire department for many years.

She is the loving and devoted mother of Valerie D. Barkman and Mark “Anthony” Barkman, Jr. both of Alpine, AR.

She is survived by her parents, Rickey E. Lee and Peggy A. Lee of Alpine; her four sisters, Nannette Couture-Phelps of McNeil, Pauline Hill and husband Bobby Jr. of Alpine, Edna Mack and husband Matthew of Rosboro and Cindy Harvey and husband Cody of New Orleans, LA; her fiancé, Blake Stroud and his children, Lily, Addie and Jack of Gurdon. She is also survived by many nieces & nephews.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home and Crematory, Glenwood.
