Norma Jean (Smith) Pierce

Norma Jean (Smith) Pierce was born October 25, 1935, and departed this life May 1, 2020. Norma Jean was born in the Sycamore community, south of Gurdon, Arkansas to Nellie Beatrice (Andrews) Smith and Lee Smith. Norma Jean and Joseph William Pierce were married December 26, 1954, and celebrated Sixty-five years of Holy Matrimony this past December. Norma was a loving, devoted wife for more than Sixty-five years. She dearly loved our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We were living in Missouri, and Norma wanted to move back to Hot Springs three years ago so she could see our great-grandchildren grow up, and so we could take them to Sunday School and Church. Yes, we moved back, and yes, we did take them to Sunday School and Church, and they loved it, and they loved her. Norma graduated from "The College of the Ozarks", in Point Lookout, Missouri, across Lake Taneycomo from Branson. She spent her entire teaching career, teaching General Business classes, typing, short hand, History, and later Computer Science in the Forsyth Missouri Public School System. The Missouri Department of Education honored her with the citation of "The Most Influential Teacher of the Year", in the Forsyth High School. Norma was an active member of "Central Baptist Church", however no services are planned at this time, due to current circumstances. Norma dearly loved going to the church services, and very seldom ever missed one. She taught Sunday School for most of her adult life, sang in the choir, attended the womens missionary groups, worked on the social and bereavement committees, and wherever needed. Norma loved having large numbers of friends over for visiting and dinner. Friends were practically all made at church. She was an excellent cook, which came naturally since she got that trait from her mother (Miss Nellie). Yes, Norma was an excellent example of how we, as Christians should live our lives. She did this daily, at home, at work, and at play. Norma, my dear loving wife will be missed by all of us, however it is a blessing to know she is at home, with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and she will never hurt anymore. She will never have any more memory problems, and she will know her husband who loved her more than anything in this world will not be far behind.
