Odell "Sarge" Tolleson

Odell "Sarge" Tolleson, age 92, of Kirby, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2016. He was born on September 7, 1923 in Amity, the son of Johny Forest Tolleson and Viola Maudy Ray Tolleson. Sarge was the last of his immediate family and was preceded in death by his parents and 10 brothers, Hoye, Charlie, Delbert, K D, Cue, Bill, Cecil, Floyd, Gerald and Kenny. Enlisting in 1942, he retired from the United States Marine Corp with the rank of Master Sergeant, E-7. He married the love of his life, Mary Agnes Burke, on June 23, 1951 and she preceded him in death on October 27, 1994. They renewed their vows in a military service on March 28, 1953 at the Naval Base Chapel at Pearl Harbor. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 26, 2016, in the Glenwood Cemetery with Bro. Bobby Golden officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the honor guard of the United States Marine Corp. Visitation will be held Thursday, 1:00 PM until service time, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be David Furr, Dewayne Wolfe, John Baker, Bruce Self, Harold Tolleson and James Tolleson. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
