Ollie Mae Pate, age 72, of Amity, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016. She was born on December 6, 1943 in the Shawmut community of Pike County, the daughter of Nick Winford and Della Lou Poarch Winford. On January 23, 1965, she was married to Jack Pate, who preceded her in death on October 28, 1982. A licensed practical nurse, she worked many years for the Glenwood Nursing Home and St. Josephs Regional Health Center. She was a member of the Amity First Baptist Church. She loved the outdoors and gardening. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Mayberry of Amity; two step-sons, Timmy Pate of Mountain Pine and James Pate of Amity; her special grandson, Cole Lair; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Barbara Taylor of Amity; and her nieces and nephews, David Taylor of Savannah, Georgia, Scott Taylor of Alpine, Delora Chambers of Oklahoma, Rita Cital of Knights Landing, California, Missy White of Kirby, Paul Killian of Indiana and Brooks Killian of Glenwood. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 21, 2016, in the Friendship Cemetery near Amity with Bro. John McAnally officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Brooks Killian, Lenon Main, Anthony Holcombe, Gary Doster, Erman Mauldin and Dub Davidson. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Glenwood Health and Rehabilitation.
