Oscar L. Spears

Oscar L. Spears, age 87, of Amity, died Friday, August 16, 2013. He was born on March 23, 1926, at Amity, the son of Silas Spears and Sarah Evalena York Spears. On April 26, 1978, he was married to Eunafae Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Henry Spears, William Spears and Lonnie Spears; and two sisters, Mary Doster and Madie Smith. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of Culvert Springs Assembly of God, and a truck driver. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Eunafae Spears of Amity; one son, Danny Golden of Amity; three daughters, Diana Bretz of Hot Springs, Lydia Pinson and her husband, Brett, of Moore, Oklahoma and Karen Dickerson of Amity; nine grandchildren, Andy Golden, Adriana Bretz, Michael Bretz, Marcos Bretz, Amanda Batt, Melissa Hedrick, Natasha Tramell, Amy Dickerson and Tiffany Dickerson; eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, August 18, 2013, in the Culvert Springs Assembly of God Church with Bro. Jerry Fagan officiating. Interment will be in the Coker Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Brett Pinson, Gary Spears, Jason Vick, Tyler Vick, Shane Ford and Billy Wayne Funderburk. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Martin A. Koehn and the nurses and staff of Arkansas Hospice, 5th Floor, Mercy Hospital for all their kind and loving care. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
