Ovada Lillian Yeargan

April 26, 1935 — September 21, 2015

Ovada Lillian Yeargan, age 80, of Norman, passed away Monday, September 21, 2015. She was born on April 26, 1935, in Black Springs, the daughter of Maxwell Lee Pearson and Zadia Warren Pearson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Retired Senior Master Sergeant John Wylie Yeargan, Sr.; her parents; one brother, Olen Pearson; and one sister, Ova Brewer. Ovada spent many years as a proud U.S. Air Force military wife, having moved weeks after the birth of their only child, John, Jr., to the Philippines, where they were stationed for four years; then moving to Riverside, California; from there to Bossier City, Louisiana; and after her husband was stationed overseas for one year in Vietnam, they moved to Moore, Oklahoma and later to Sembach, Germany for two years, after which John, Sr. retired in 1972. After her husband's retirement from the military, they moved back to their farm in Black Springs and began working the farm together for many years. During the years her husband was in the military, she worked as a bookkeeper for the Civil Service and in later years she worked as an assistant and bookkeeper in her son's law practice in Mount Ida. Ovada enjoyed working in her garden, watching birds and living her country life. She was always so nice to everyone and was loved by all who met her. The greatest treasure in her life was her son, John, whom she cherished every moment of her life and was such a wonderful mother in every way possible. She is survived by her son, John Wylie Yeargan, Jr. of Norman; one brother, Othel Pearson of Conway; two sisters, Clara Mae Brunt of Black Springs and Evonne Duke of Collierville, Tennessee; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful and loving friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 25, 2015, in the Gaston Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Duke, Anton Duke, Angela Duke, Bob Pearson, Durrell Brewer and Ken Brewer. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
