Paul Johnston Bailey

June 5, 1926 — July 19, 2011

Paul Johnston Bailey, age 85, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 19, 2011. He was born in Hanover, New Mexico on June 5, 1926 to John Mack Bailey and Bertha Winona Vulliet Bailey. He was one of five sons, Lloyd, Paul, Bill, Mack & Cecil. A veteran of World War II, he served in the 5th Air Force headquartered in Japan and entered Hiroshima, two weeks after the Atomic Bomb was dropped. He built B29's before he was old enough to be drafted. He was a taxidermist. He was a logger in Roseburg, Oregon. He did carpentry work in California and he was a building contractor specializing in custom built homes in Hot Springs. He loved hunting, fishing and talking. He spent the last 4 years of his life in Rogers living at two different nursing home facilities. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin Paul and Sharla Bailey of Bolivar, Missouri; his daughter, Denise Marie Baker of Rogers; three grandchildren, Aaron James Baker and his wife, Hannah, Adam Jarrod Baker and Adrianna Jordin Baker all of Rogers; two brothers, Mack Bailey of Oregon and Cecil Bailey of Surprise, Arizona; and many nieces & nephews. Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with funeral services following at 2:00 PM. Interment will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Hot Springs. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, Arkansas 72762 or the First Baptist Church of Rogers Building Fund, 3364 West Pleasant Grove Road, Rogers, AR 72758 Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
