R. J. Smith

R. J. Smith, age 78, of Amity, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018. He was born on December 27, 1939 at Rosboro, the son of Boyd Ray Smith and Willie Rosette Spears Smith. On July 24, 1959, he was married to Marie Evans Smith who preceded him in death on May 27, 2009. He was a retired pulpwood hauler and poultry farmer. He enjoyed playing the guitar and riding in the mountains. He was always good at making a deal or trade. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Troyce and Beverly Smith of Kirby; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Marty Jolliff of Centralia, Illinois and Patricia and Kevin Mack of Kirby; twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry Don Smith of Amity and Kenny Wayne Smith of Glenwood; his sister, Betty Lou Epperson of Daisy; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 17, 2018, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. George "Boots" Donaldson officiating. Visitation will be Monday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Coker Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dalton Smith, Timmy Todd, Donnie Forrest, Ronnie Forrest, Steven Forrest and James Mack. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
