Ray Lamb

April 28, 1958 — November 7, 2020

Ray Lamb, age 62, of Alpine, passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2020.

He was born on April 28, 1958, in Berea, Kentucky, the son of Raymond Lamb and Mildred Lakes Lamb. On November 11, 2009, he was married to the love of his life, Susan Elaine Beaver Lamb. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Charles Beaver; and his brother-in-law, Eddie Beaver.

He was a faithful member of the Oak Grove Community Church in Alpine and worked for many years as a Freight Coordinator for 4D Transportation, where he loved his job and his fellow co-workers. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially loved mowing, even to the extent where he not only mowed his grass, but he would go from neighbor to neighbor making sure their grass was taken care of too.

Ray was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, lovingly known as “Poppy” by his grandchildren. He had a huge heart for helping folks, especially always making sure to take care of frontline workers in times of snow and ice storm shutdowns. He would be known to disappear from his house, only to be found down with the ones in need, cooking them a huge breakfast of gravy, bacon and eggs. If he knew someone was in need, Ray never let anyone go without. He will truly be missed by all who had the joy of knowing and loving him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Lamb of Alpine; his two daughters and sons-in-law, Kristy and Eugene Bryant of Berea, Kentucky and Brittani and Dillon Powell of Sheridan; his “special and adored fur-son”, Archie Lamb of the home; his stepson, Zach Reeves and his wife, Kylynn; five grandchildren, Shelby Bryant, Taylor Bryant, Harper Powell, Olivia Powell and Ava Powell; four step-grandchildren, Victoria Reeves, Audrey Reeves, Mila Reeves and Dalila Reeves; his brother, Robert Lamb and his sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Darrell Payne, all of Berea, Kentucky; his mother-in-law, Linda Beaver of Harrison; his brother-in-law, Randy Beaver, and his wife, Cindy, of Pea Ridge; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members; and a host of wonderful lifelong friends.
