Rev. Billy W. Hughes

Rev. Billy W. Hughes, age 77, of Amity, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2021.

He was born on April 10, 1943, in the Fendley community Clark County, the son of Harold Hughes and Ella Lorene Adcock Hughes. On September 19, 1964, he was married to Rebecca Jane Reese Hughes who preceded him in death on September 4, 2019.

He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam era. A bi-vocational pastor, he was known as a hard worker who never complained. He pastored the Bethel Pentecostal Church in Allen, Texas and the First Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Amity. A family man, he loved his wife and being with his family, always taking time for them. He enjoyed crappie fishing, working in his garden and anything that concerned history.

He is survived by three children, Sherry Ann Hughes, Susan M. Barnett and her husband, Stephen, all of Hot Springs, and Timothy R. Hughes of Texas; his grandson, Kellun Barnett of Hot Springs; his sister, Linda Sorrell of Hot Springs; his brother-in-law, Tom Reese of Milan, Ohio; and his nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, February 2, 2021, in the Apostolic Faith Tabernacle with Bro. Dennis Anderson, Bro. J. B. Yelverton and Bro. Keith Morris officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Air Force Honor Guard.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, 12:00 Noon until service time, at the church.

Social distancing directives will be in place with no more than 66% of the total seating capacity occupied at the church, avoidance of physical contact and all attendees 10 years of age or older must be wearing a face covering at all times.

Interment will be in Brushy Creek Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.

Pallbearers will be Kellun Barnett, Brandon Howell, Mark Sorrell, Frank Adcock, Harlen Ellis and Milton Yeaman.
