Robbie D. Hancock

Robbie D. Hancock, age 82, of Hot Springs, went into the loving arms of Jesus on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, Jesus took dad home to be with the love of his life, Lilly.

He was born on April 11, 1938, in Amity, the son of Doyle Hancock and Anita Wheeler Hancock. On April 24, 1959, he married his high school sweetheart, Lilly Pittman. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 59 years, Lilly M. Hancock; one sister, Paulette Owens; and one brother-in-law, Harold Owens.

Robbie was a deacon and member of First Primitive Baptist Church in Hot Springs. After teaching and serving as head basketball coach at Humphrey High School, Cutter Morning Star High School and Fountain Lake High School, he retired as an assistant superintendent of Fountain Lake School. He was a park ranger for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and retired after working over 35 years at Lake Ouachita. Even after retirement, he stayed active in Pee Wee and Youth basketball in area schools. He also served on the school board of Cutter Morning Star School from 1991-2007.

His hobbies included basketball, watching westerns, listening to blue grass music and traveling with friends and family. Robbie was so blessed to have jobs that made a difference in others lives. He was a mentor and leader and a true man of integrity. He loved to talk and visit with people and he never meet a stranger. He will be greatly miss by all that knew and loved him. Robbie and Lilly lived a real-life love story and the family is comforted with the knowledge that their love story now continues.

Robbie is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Julia Hancock of Bismarck and Bradley and Jennifer Hancock of Portland, Maine; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Leslie Dockery, Janet and Darrin Taylor and Dorinda and Keith Thomas, all of Hot Springs; twelve grandchildren, Parker Hancock, Sydney Hancock, Becki and Josh Chronister, Kyle Thomas, Kennedy Hancock, Audrey Hancock, Macy Hancock, Chelsea and Cameron Hall, Chance Taylor, Alexandria Roles, Taylor Snellback and Allana Snellback; four great-grandchildren, Grayson Hall, Ella Hall, Isaac Chronister and Leo Chronister; special family, Steve and Marti Snellback; his brother, Maurice Hancock of Amity; his sister and brother-in-law, Dana and Jim Ferguson of Amity; three sisters-in-law, Thelma Robertson of Benton, Orene Pittman of Amity and Irene Pate of Arkadelphia; his aunt and uncle Nell and James Bardwell of Arkadelphia; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of wonderful friends.

Graveside service will be held at 10:00AM, Saturday, October 31, 2020, in the Jones Cemetery with Bro. James Owens and Bro. Danny Loy officiating, under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.

Visitation will be Friday from 5:00PM-7:00PM, in the Cutter Morning Star School Gymnasium.

Pallbearers will be Cameron Hall, Josh Chronister, Parker Hancock, Chance Taylor and Kyle Thomas.

The family would like to thank Loretta Strothers and Cindy Large for their special care they gave dad.
