Roger Dale Tidwell, Sr.

Roger Dale Tidwell, Sr., age 76, of Glenwood, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021.

He was born on February 21, 1944, in Vallejo, California, the son of Frazier Tidwell and Bernice Wright Tidwell Vaughn. Roger was five years old when his father passed away. His mother would marry Herman Vaughn who became Dad to her four boys. Roger was preceded in death by his mother, step-father and two brothers, Jimmy Tidwell and Harold Tidwell.

Roger was a nursing home administrator for almost fifty years. He owned and operated several nursing homes and assisted living facilities. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting and thoroughbred racing. He loved being with his grandchildren, especially his great-grandson, Brenson, he lovingly nicknamed Roscoe.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Jeff Rowlan of Bryant; his son, Roger Tidwell, Jr. of Glenwood; the mother of his children, Sissy Tidwell of Glenwood; his granddaughter, Tiffany Newsome and her husband, Blake, of Fayetteville; his grandson, Alex Rowlan and his wife, Brielle, of Jonesboro; his great-grandson, Brenson “Roscoe” Rowlan; his brother, A. G. Tidwell of Magnet Cove; and his nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM, Saturday, January 9, 2021, in the Mount Tabor Cemetery with Dr. Denny Wright officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Rowlan, Alex Rowlan, T. J. Tidwell, Eddie Bright, John Garay and Dee Crawford.

Memorials may be made to the Mount Tabor Cemetery Association, 1501 Dollar Road, Glenwood, Arkansas 71943.
