Roland Mahan

Roland Mahan, age 87, of Hot Springs, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021.

Roland was born on December 31, 1933, in Hot Springs, the son of Alexander Cam Mahan an Jeffie Mae Richardson Mahan. On September 4, 1953, he married Mary Lorene Lucas, who passed away on December 15, 2015, at that time they had been married for 62 years. He is also preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Niki Beasley; one grandson, Wendell Adams, II; one great-granddaughter, Adalyn Beasley; son-in-law, Rick Beasley; two brothers, Columbus Mahan and Tillman Mahan; three sisters, Alta Lauterbach, Lucille Miller and Merlene Winkle; one sister-in-law, Joyce Schwitter; and one brother-in-law, Bob Lucas.

Roland was a member of the Piney Grove Methodist Church, a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Shriners and a United States Army veteran. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son and brother. He loved bass fishing, gardening, especially watermelons and loved buying Arkansas Lottery scratch off tickets. Roland and his dog, “Queenie”, drove many a mile on his Ranger. He and Mary enjoyed spending time in Mount Ida on their farm and calling the turkeys. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Kim and Wendell Adams of Mount Ida and Karen Beasley of Hot Springs; five grandchildren and their spouses, Kari Ann and Wayne Hawthorn, Dr. Michael Adams, Jennifer Nicholson, David and Angie Adams, and Alex and Sydney Beasley; sixteen great-grandchildren, Emily, Lucas, Mazie, Logan, Emma A., Jessie, Danny, Wendell, Grace, Juel, Jagger, Dohnovan, Paityn, Emma T., Abbie and Stella; his two sisters, Louise Pyron and Bertie Mullings; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and many good friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, May 3, 2021, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs, with Bro. George Vincent officiating.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, prior to service at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Alex Beasley, David Mahan, Clint Mahan, Lucas Hawthorn, Jared Dragon, and Wayne Hawthorn.

Honorary pallbearers are Merwyn Smith, Glen George, Wade Wisely, Connie House, Lien and Y Audong, the Zip-In Coffee Club and Rise and Dine family.
