Royce L. Hancock

Royce L. Hancock, age 71, of Amity, died Friday, July 8, 2011. He was born on March 1, 1940, at Forrester, Arkansas, the son of Loyd Hancock and Cleodia Jane Williams Hancock. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Davis Hancock; his parents; his brother, Melvin Loyd Hancock; and his sister, Norma Jean Yarbrough. A retired timber faller, he was a United States Navy veteran and served as a former mayor for the city of Amity. He was a member of the New Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include his daughter, Julia Hancock of Coos Bay, Oregon; two sons, Roger Hancock of El Paso, Texas and Roger Lynn Hancock of Redmond, Oregon; two aunts, Altie Williams of Amity and Freda Williams of Prescott; and numerous other family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 13, 2011, in the White-Wheeler Cemetery near Amity with Bro. Keith Howell officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Charles Ducote, William Rice, Cloys Runyan, Dean Porter, Kenneth Davis and Stacey Bean. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Mitchell and the Amity First Responders. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
