Ruby Lee Lowery Albaugh

January 17, 1927 — October 9, 2020

Ruby Lee Lowery Albaugh, age 93, of Hot Springs, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2020.

She was born on January 17, 1927 to Robert Lee Lowery and Zula Waller Lowery in Eudora. It was that year, 1927, Eudora experienced the big flood. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years, Cassius Max Albaugh; her parents; an infant daughter; her brothers, James W. Lowery and Robert J. Lowery; and her stepfather, Jason T. Hurd.

In her young, married life, Ruby was very proud that she was able to help in the World War II effort, while her husband, Max, was in Europe and Asia serving in the war. She was a member of the Rosie the Riveter Association. She worked at Bendix Plane Factory and helped build the famous B-17’s. When that factory closed, she was asked to work for a pup tent factory making pup tents for the Army. Her two sons enjoyed the pup tent she was given as a keepsake by the Chessaning, Michigan Army factory.

In later years, she and her husband were active members of the Piney Baptist Church serving in the choir, children’s church and bus ministry.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tom E. (Valeria) Albaugh and Rick K. (Marcia) Albaugh, all of Hot Springs; four granddaughters and spouses, Jennifer (Shane) David, Nelah (Matthew) Wallace, Natalie (Michael) Summitt and Trisha (Ray) Sowell; ten great-grandchildren; her brother, Bill (Kay) Hurd; two sisters-in-law, Marcia Lowery and Margie Lowery; her nieces and nephews, Ellen Sternaman, Sandra Munson and Les (Carol) Loynes.

Visitation will be held Monday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.

A celebration of Ruby’s life will be held Tuesday, 10:00 AM, in the Piney Baptist Church with Bro. Larry Catcher officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons and their wives of Piney Baptist Church, Lifenet EMS and Dierksen Hospice. A special thanks to Richard and Sue Pierce, Judy Ward, Linda Hamilton, George and Judy Lieblong and Glen and Susie Grisham for loving Ruby and caring for her like family.
