Ruby "Ozel" Yarbrough

Ruby “Ozel” Yarbrough, age 79, of Glenwood, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021.

She was born on February 9, 1942 in Glenwood, the daughter of Elbert and Irene Vaughn and Christine Ozel Shores Vaughn Hamadene. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Max Vaughn. On February 17, 1959, she was married to Johnny Yarbrough.

Ozel worked for Alltel, formerly Allied, as a phone operator in Glenwood. Later, she worked on the family chicken farm, as well as, at the checkout counter and office at Wrights Food Center. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, riding horses and loved being around all of her family.

She is survived by her husband, Johnny Yarbrough of Glenwood; four children and their spouses, Gloria and Darrell Diggs, Michael and Charlene Yarbrough and Daphne and Willie Nelson, all of Glenwood, and Glen and April Yarbrough of Norman; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren with one more on the way; twenty-one great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Roy Lee O’Neal, Sr. of Glenwood; and her stepfather, Ralph Hamadene of Glenwood.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 11, 2021, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Jeremy Graves and Bro. Brian Hill officiating.

Visitation will be Monday, 6:00 PM, until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Mount Tabor Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and include James Yarbrough, Jason Yarbrough, John Mark Baker, Anthony Yarbrough, Jared Hearne, Jesse Davis, Timothy Davis, Brant Yarbrough and Austin Dycus.
