Russell Meeks, Sr.

November 26, 1951 — October 6, 2020

Russell Meeks, Sr., age 68, of Caddo Gap, passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 6, 2020.

He was born on November 26, 1951, in Hot Springs, the son of Henry James Meek and Delcie Jane Ayers Meek. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Carolyn Sue Tucker Meeks; his grandson, Matthew James Meeks; his parents; and three brothers, Sherman Meek, Jewell Meek and Carol Meek.

He was a graduate of the police academy, and immediately went to work for Sanders Security in Hot Springs as a security officer, where he worked for over twenty years. In his younger years, Russell created the C.B. Club, a non-profit organization raising funds which would go entirely to terminally ill children to make their final wishes come true or provided coats and clothing for homeless individuals during the cold winter months.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was an avid outdoorsman, but his greatest joy in life was when he was spending time with his family. Russell was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, who touched many lives by his kind generosity, and he will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his three sons, Karl Russell Meeks, Jr. and Angel Hagar, James Lee Meeks, Sr. and John Wayne Meeks, Sr., all of Caddo Gap; eighteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
